What you need to know
- It is managed in the UniFi Access application, which needs a UniFi Console that supports Access. Ubiquiti describes Access as licence-free.
- Ubiquiti's getting started guide says readers connect to an Access hub, which wires to the door lock. The hub, lock and PoE switch are separate items.
- Touch Pass on the G3 Reader Pro needs reader firmware 1.10.30 or later, UniFi OS 4.4.6 or later, Access 4.1.15 or later and Remote Access. The first 10 Touch Passes are free for a year.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between the G3 Reader and G3 Reader Pro?
On Ubiquiti's tech specs, the Reader Pro adds a 4.7" touch display, a 2MP camera, PIN entry, face unlock and two-way intercom with doorbell. The standard G3 Reader lists NFC, wallet, mobile unlock and handwave exit only.
Is the G3 Reader Pro suitable for outdoor use?
Yes. It is rated IP55 for indoor and outdoor use. The device operates from -30 to 45 °C, and the display from -10 to 45 °C, with 5 to 90% non-condensing humidity.
How is the G3 Reader Pro powered?
Over PoE, or from a UL 294 power-limited Class 2 supply or an LPS/PS2 supply, at 48 V DC. Maximum consumption is 6 W. Ubiquiti recommends Cat 5e or better cabling and the unit has a Gigabit Ethernet port.
Description
Efficient IS supplies the UniFi Access G3 Reader Pro to UK organisations, with delivery, survey and installation available on request.
The G3 Reader Pro combines everything the G3 Reader does (NFC, fob and Touch Pass unlock) with a built-in video intercom, so a single device at the door covers both access control and “who’s there”, useful for a main entrance or reception door where you want to see a visitor before letting them in, without running a separate intercom.
It’s rated for indoor or outdoor mounting and, like the rest of the range, managed from the UniFi Access app.
