Who we are
Efficient IS is a trading name of Irruptus Limited, a company registered in Scotland under company number SC348425, with its registered office at 41 Fairfield Place, East Kilbride, Glasgow, G74 5LP. We’re the data controller for the personal information described in this policy, meaning we decide how and why it’s used.
This policy covers efficient-is.co.uk and any other websites we operate. It doesn’t cover websites we merely link to — once you leave our site, that site’s own privacy policy applies.

The information we collect
What we collect depends on how you interact with us:
Visiting our website. Like most websites, we automatically collect some technical information from your browser and device — your IP address, browser and device type, pages visited, how long you spent on them, the site that referred you to us, and approximate location derived from your IP address. This is gathered through our website’s own logs and through analytics tools (see Cookies below).
Getting in touch, or requesting a quote. When you contact us or ask for a quote, we collect what you give us — typically your name, email address, phone number, organisation, and the content of your message or enquiry.
Placing an order. When you buy from us, we collect the information needed to process and fulfil your order: name, billing and delivery address, email address, phone number, and details of what you’ve ordered. Card payment details are entered directly with our payment provider and are not stored on our own servers.
Creating an account. If you create an account with us, we collect your name, email address and a securely hashed password, along with your order history.
Signing up for updates. If you choose to hear from us about new products, services or company news, we collect your email address and keep a record of your consent (or, for existing customers, the “soft opt-in” described under Marketing below).
How we use your information, and why
We only use personal information where we have a lawful basis to do so:
To process your order or quotation request — necessary to perform our contract with you, or to take steps at your request before entering into one.
To respond to enquiries and provide customer support — our legitimate interest in running a responsive business, or performance of a contract where you’re already a customer.
To manage your account — performance of our contract with you.
To send you marketing about our products and services — with your consent, or, if you’re an existing customer, on the basis of our legitimate interest under the “soft opt-in” permitted by UK privacy law for similar products and services (you can opt out at any time — see Marketing below).
To understand how our website is used, and improve it — with your consent for non-essential analytics and advertising cookies (see Cookies below), or our legitimate interest in keeping the site secure and functioning correctly for strictly necessary cookies.
To meet our legal and accounting obligations — for example keeping invoice and order records for the period required by UK tax law — necessary to comply with a legal obligation.
To prevent fraud, assess creditworthiness for account/credit terms, and protect our legal rights — our legitimate interest, balanced against your rights.
We don’t use your personal information for any automated decision-making that produces a legal or similarly significant effect on you.
Cookies and similar technologies
A cookie is a small file a website stores on your device, which your browser then sends back to that website on future visits. We use cookies for a few different purposes:
Strictly necessary cookies — needed for core functionality like keeping items in your basket and letting you check out securely. These don’t require your consent, as the site can’t work properly without them.
Analytics cookies — help us understand how visitors use our site (via Google Analytics, run through Google Tag Manager), so we can improve it. These are only set with your consent.
Advertising and conversion-tracking cookies — where enabled, these help us measure the effectiveness of our advertising (for example Google Ads and LinkedIn) and, where relevant, show you more relevant adverts elsewhere. These are only set with your consent.
When you first visit our site, a banner asks you to accept or decline analytics and advertising cookies — nothing beyond the strictly necessary cookies is set until you choose “Accept all.” You can change your mind at any time via the “Cookie Settings” link in the footer of any page, or by controlling or deleting cookies directly through your browser settings. Refusing non-essential cookies won’t stop you using the core parts of our site, though blocking strictly necessary ones may affect features like the basket.
Who we share your information with
We don’t sell or rent your personal information to anyone. We share it only where necessary, with:
Service providers who work on our behalf — our website hosting provider, our payment processor (to take payment securely), and couriers or delivery partners (to deliver your order) — each of whom is only given the information they need to do their job, and is contractually required to keep it secure and confidential.
Analytics and advertising partners — Google (Analytics and Tag Manager) and, where enabled, LinkedIn, to help us understand website usage and measure advertising performance.
Professional advisers — our accountants, auditors, insurers and legal advisers, where reasonably necessary.
Regulators, law enforcement, or other authorities — where we’re required to by law, or where we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, property, or the safety of others.
If we were to sell the business or its assets, or go through a merger, acquisition or insolvency process, personal information may be transferred to the new owner as part of that transaction, subject to the same protections described in this policy.
International transfers
Some of the service providers we use, including Google and LinkedIn, may process information on servers located outside the UK. Where this happens, we make sure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as the UK’s International Data Transfer Agreement or the provider’s own approved standard contractual clauses, so your information remains protected to UK standards wherever it’s processed.
How long we keep your information
We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes described above:
Order and invoice records — for 6 years from the end of the financial year they relate to, to meet our accounting and tax obligations.
Account information — for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterwards in case you return.
Enquiry and quote request details — typically for up to 24 months, unless they lead to an order or an ongoing relationship, in which case the periods above apply instead.
Marketing consent and preferences — until you unsubscribe or ask us to stop, and a short period afterwards to record that you did.
Website analytics data — in line with our analytics provider’s standard retention settings, after which it’s automatically deleted or anonymised.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:
- ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
- ask us to correct any information that’s inaccurate or incomplete;
- ask us to delete your information, in certain circumstances;
- ask us to restrict how we use your information, in certain circumstances;
- object to us using your information, including for direct marketing, at any time;
- ask us to provide your information in a portable format, where we’re relying on consent or contract as our lawful basis; and
- withdraw your consent at any time, where we’re relying on consent — this won’t affect anything we did before you withdrew it.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details above. We’ll usually respond within one month. If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, you also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK’s data protection regulator, at
ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113 — though we’d appreciate the chance to put things right first, so please talk to us before you do.
Marketing
We’ll only send you marketing emails if you’ve opted in, or if you’re an existing customer and we’re emailing you about similar products or services to those you’ve already bought (as UK law allows, provided we gave you the chance to opt out at the time). Every marketing email includes a simple way to unsubscribe, and you can also ask us to stop at any time by contacting us directly.
Children
Our website and services are aimed at businesses and professional buyers, not children. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children, and if we become aware that we have, we’ll delete it.
Keeping your information secure
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorised access, loss, misuse or alteration — including secure (HTTPS) connections, restricted access to systems that hold personal data, and working only with service providers who meet appropriate security standards. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information to a high standard.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time, for example if we start using our information in a new way or the law changes. We’ll update the date at the top of this page when we do, and where a change is significant, we’ll take reasonable steps to let you know. We’d encourage you to check back here occasionally.
