IT & NETWORK Β· BUSINESS CONTINUITY & DISASTER RECOVERY

A second IT provider who’s already up to speed — not a plan nobody’s tested.

Most disaster recovery plans are a document nobody’s opened since it was written. We work differently: as your secondary IT support provider, running a defined slice of your environment day-to-day — typically 10–20% — so if your primary in-house team or main provider has an outage, loses key people, or simply can’t cope for a period, we’re not starting cold. We already know your systems, because we’ve been in them all along.

Where it’s used

Built for organisations that can’t afford a single point of failure

Multi-vendor IT strategies

Organisations that deliberately split support across two providers, so continuity of service never rests on one contractor or one in-house team.

In-house teams wanting a real backup

A secondary provider already embedded in your systems and ways of working — not a binder that’s never been tested under real pressure.

Public sector & regulated bodies

Where supplier resilience and continuity of service are genuinely assessed as part of procurement, not just a checkbox on a form.

How it’s priced

Sized to your environment, not a fixed package

This isn’t hardware with a per-unit price — it’s an ongoing arrangement scoped to how much of your environment we run day-to-day and what we’d need to pick up if we had to step in fully. That varies enough between organisations that we scope it properly rather than publish a starting figure that wouldn’t mean much either way.

Want a straight answer on what this would look like for you? Call 0845 095 3600 or email info@efficient-is.co.uk — we’ll tell you honestly what a sensible split looks like for your setup, not sell you more cover than you need.

How it works

Embedded first, ready if you ever need us to step up

01

Assess

A review of your current IT environment and support arrangements, and where a secondary provider genuinely adds resilience rather than duplicating cover you already have.

02

Scope

A defined slice of your environment we manage day-to-day — typically 10–20% — plus a documented plan for what we’d take on if your primary provider or team became unavailable.

03

Stay embedded

Ongoing, hands-on involvement in your live systems, not a one-off audit filed away — so our knowledge of your environment stays current, not stale.

04

Step in when needed

If your primary provider or in-house team is unavailable, we’re already positioned to pick up — not starting a discovery project from zero at the worst possible moment.

Questions we’re asked most

Answered plainly

How is this different from just outsourcing all our IT support to you?

You keep your existing provider or in-house team for the majority of your support. We take on a smaller, clearly defined slice — typically 10–20% — day to day, which is what keeps us genuinely current on your environment rather than a provider brought in cold if something goes wrong.

How do you stay up to date on our systems if you’re only handling part of our support?

Because that part is live, ongoing work — not a periodic audit. The systems, documentation and access we maintain as part of your day-to-day support are exactly what let us step up quickly if we ever need to.

Is this the same as a traditional backup/disaster recovery service?

No — this is about continuity of your IT support relationship, not data backup and replication (that’s covered separately under Cloud Services). Many clients run both: technical backup/recovery for their data and systems, and us as the fallback support provider for the people and process side of an outage.

What size organisation is this suited to?

Any organisation with an existing in-house IT function or primary provider that wants genuine continuity of service — it’s particularly common among public sector bodies and larger organisations where a single-supplier dependency is a real risk, not just a theoretical one.

Want a genuine fallback, not just a plan on paper?

Tell us how your IT support is currently set up and we’ll tell you honestly whether a secondary-provider arrangement makes sense for you.
