What you need to know

Paxton lists the Net2 Plus as a PCB or in a metal or plastic cabinet, with or without a 2A or PoE+ power supply, and cabinets are not sold separately. Sales code 682-528 is the plastic housing version and 682-531 is the 12V 2A PSU in plastic cabinet version, so confirm which variant you are buying.
The controller connects to a TCP/IP network and Paxton's product page says it needs a fixed (static) IP address, set with the Net2 Configuration Utility. Changes made at the PC are stored on the controller, which decides access locally.
You supply the readers, lock and exit button separately. The relay is voltage free (24 V DC, 4 A maximum) and total reader port output is 500 mA, so check the combined draw of the readers you connect.

Frequently asked questions

How many users can a Net2 Plus controller hold?

Paxton's datasheet TDS-1038 lists a maximum of 50,000 users or tokens in total. Each Net2 Plus controls one door, and several controllers can be linked over the network or by RS485 to build a larger site.

Does the Net2 Plus need a network connection?

It has a built in TCP/IP connection (RJ45) and Paxton states it needs a fixed IP address, configured with the Net2 Configuration Utility. Other Net2 Plus or Net2 Classic units can be daisy chained to it over CAT5 using the RS485 connection.

Can I use third party readers with the Net2 Plus?

Yes. Paxton states the controller works with Paxton or third party readers, and the datasheet lists clock and data and 26 bit Wiegand support if the reader is compatible. Total reader port output is 500 mA, so check each reader's current draw.
